Description Peter Stone 2022-06-16 12:57:14 UTC
Description of problem: Trying to send a new email via mailto link from Chromium results in Thunderbird crashing, when Thunderbird was not already open.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): chromium 100.0.4896.127 (Official Build) Fedora Project (64-bit), Thunderbird 91.10.0 (64-bit), up to date Fedora 36 Workstation.

How reproducible: always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. make sure Thunderbird is not already open
2. from Chromium, log into Bugzilla, go to any bug with comments and click on a comment's author (a mailto link)
3. Thunderbird crashes, ABRT points to https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/reports/bthash/12721aa5441adbd712ac7d36cf63e2c74457582b -> https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/reports/442927/

Actual results: a new email window in Thunderbird should open, with the To: field containing the previously clicked address

Expected results: Thunderbird crashes

Additional info: This crash does not happen if the mailto link is clicked from Firefox 101.0 (64-bit), in the same conditions - Thunderbird not already open.

Comment 1 Than Ngo 2023-01-09 20:10:00 UTC
it should be fixed in chromium-108 update
