The following items would be helpful additions:

* A command line option to turn off dbus notify which doesn't require using --config global/notify_dbus=0
* A command line option to control debug log file location, level etc. which doesn't require using --config "log { level=7 file=%s syslog=0 }"
* An option to pass an open FD in an environment variable for lvm to dump the debug output to.  This would also require ability to control level and disable syslog logging etc.
