This bug has been migrated to another issue tracking site. It has been closed here and may no longer be being monitored.

If you would like to get updates for this issue, or to participate in it, you may do so at Red Hat Issue Tracker .
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Sahil Bhasin 2022-09-16 17:17:03 UTC
Description of problem:

1. Proposed title of this feature request

To rename the “Sync Inventory Status” button to “Sync All Inventory Status” and Org level “Restart" button to “Sync Inventory” for clear understanding.

2. What is the nature and description of the request?

UI Improvement

3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)

Current Behavior

 A) Let's assume right now the satellite has two organizations ACME and TEST.

 B) If we are under the context of Any Organization then,

   * If we go to Configure → Inventory Upload Page we will see two Organization
     ACME and TEST.

   * Above right side, one option will be present Sync Inventory Status

   * And if we expand ACME and TEST We have the option to Restart

 C) Now if you want to upload inventory of both organizations then You have to
   Click on Sync Inventory Status

 D) And If you want to Sync ACME Organization inventory you have to click restart

Expectations:

   * If Sync Inventory Status is performing sync on all the organizations present
on satellite then the user should be able to identify with the Button name.
Hence the request to rename it as “Sync All Inventory Status”.

   * If the restart button basically does the same thing for one organization, It
should be renamed as “Sync Inventory”.

4. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional
requirements here)

Simply from Satellite UI → Configure → Inventory Upload page

5. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.

By verifying the name of both buttons and their functions.

6. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

No

7. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target?

As soon as possible

8. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?

No

9. List any affected packages or components.

foreman

10. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?

Yes

I think "Sync inventory status" is named quite properly, but the "restart" button could be renamed to "Generate and upload report".

Comment 3 Brad Buckingham 2024-03-21 21:07:37 UTC
Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in a month. This message may be a repeat of a previous update and the bug is again being considered to be closed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.

Comment 5 Brad Buckingham 2024-05-10 12:29:27 UTC
Based upon feedback during auto-closure, leaving this bugzilla open a while longer for additional discussion; however, it may be closed in a future iteration.
