Description Riya Banerjee 2023-03-15 15:16:42 UTC
Description of problem:
Currently, there is no method to get a list of duplicate entries for a system on Inventory as well as on Compliance via Insights API or CLI.

One can only get list of all systems using below APIs:
https://console.redhat.com/docs/api/inventory/v1#operations-tag-hosts
https://console.redhat.com/docs/api/compliance/v1#operations-host-ListHosts

Sometimes, it is observed that some hosts have several entries. It will be helpful if once can fetch the list of duplicate entries, that can safely removed, through Insights API or CLI.

Comment 1 Rob Williams 2023-04-17 12:23:50 UTC
Thank you for submitting this RFE for Red Hat Insights. The Inventory that Red Hat Insights applications use has logic in place to consolidate unique hosts coming from different data sources to prevent multiple instances of the same host being listed. If duplicate entries are experienced in the Inventory or Insights applications, this is unintentional product behavior and should be treated as a bug. The team has reviewed this request and has determined there are no plans to provide specialized functionality to self-manage duplicate hosts on the immediate or near-term roadmap. If this is being encountered, please open a support case with Red Hat Support so our product teams can get the necessary information to determine a root cause for this issue and fix the product to provide an accurate & reliable inventory. Due to this, we will be closing this ticket out as CLOSED WONTFIX.
