Description Jens Petersen 2023-03-24 10:19:29 UTC
Description of problem:
I was trying out dnf5 and forgot to prefix sudo for upgrade command.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
dnf5-5.0.7-1.fc39

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf upgrade

Actual results:
[149/149] Total 100% | 9.2 MiB/s | 183.7 MiB | 00m20s
Verifying PGP signatures

Running transaction
filesystem error: cannot create directories: Permission denied [/run/dnf]

Expected results:
Should complain it is not running with sufficient privileges rather than attempt transaction blindly.

Also voting to bring back the `update` alias for `upgrade` ;-) :-)

Comment 2 Fedora Release Engineering 2023-08-16 08:14:59 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 39 development cycle.
Changing version to 39.
