Specify that "Leapp utility metadata" needs to be downloaded and extracted on all the client systems Reported by: rhn-support-saydas https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.11/html/managing_hosts/upgrading_hosts_to_next_major_rhel_release_managing-hosts#annotations:0c50ff59-48d5-46ea-a99b-e102551bb663
In "Chapter 5. Upgrading Hosts to Next Major Red Hat Enterprise Linux Release" under the "Prerequisites" section, * The first two points would usually cover what preparation users have to do on their systems that are to be leapp'ed and then we point to the RHEL docs and then in the RHEL, docs we have the information about leapp metadata mentioned. For better user experience, I believe we should mention the point in our satellite doc as a fifth point under the "Prerequisites" section, ~~~ You must obtain and deploy Leapp metadata manually on all the systems where RHEL conversion would take place. For more information, see [Leapp utility metadata in-place upgrades of RHEL for disconnected upgrades](https://access.redhat.com/articles/3664871). ~~~
The data files are nowadays part of leapp-repository builds so no manual download is necessary anymore. I suggest to close it
Do you know the version where they have been added to the package? We should mention it in the docs, that since the version x.y.z these steps are not required.
Yes, it's written in the official doc with the data files: https://access.redhat.com/articles/3664871
There are no steps in the docs regarding metadata. This BZ suggests adding them. So I can close it, when they're no longer needed, right?
Closing the BZ, as the metadata files are now part of the leapp package.
