Description of problem:
It seems that mb2md in EPEL is /not/ version 17 as the file name suggest but a /much/ older version, perhaps version 4 or so.

There have been many bug fixes since version 4 and I believe the current version is 18. The version supplied by EPEL fails to convert correctly mail messages.

Please update to the most recent version of mb2md.

What file name? mb2md-3.20-17.el7?

It is version 3.20. According to the changelog, this package dates back to 2009.

According to the project home page

http://batleth.sapienti-sat.org/projects/mb2md/

the newest version is version 3.20 released in May 2006.

The same version is also in Ubuntu https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mb2md and Debian https://packages.debian.org/sid/mb2md
