Just booting in the morning. It happens from time to time, Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't help, Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or whichever Fx). The only solution was to do a hard shutdown with the power button, and then reboot. I have now two gnome-shell application crashes, one at 8:29 (this one) and one at 8:30 (let me know if and how I should report it as well). reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGABRT journald_cursor: s=9cbc3f95db0942fd857094d923fd6e6f;i=443ee4;b=6964d50077b048f4a0dc0dd233a41be7;m=13b941cc;t=60030391d2219;x=f45f983b649f062d executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-21867.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 21867 kernel: 6.3.11-200.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.2-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: __poll

I don't know how it can be reproduced but I've started to get dual crashes of gnome-shell on first login of the day. I boot without issue, I login, then the screen becomes black for a few minutes, nothing happens, and then I'm back to the login screen. When I login again, successfully this time, there are two crash reports waiting for me (this one is the 2nd one). reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGABRT journald_cursor: s=9cbc3f95db0942fd857094d923fd6e6f;i=49f37d;b=60abe2fca2974a638ace8ed0596c6751;m=7b9d8cd0;t=60149d6c9c858;x=a405b0b64b6000e executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-21867.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 21867 kernel: 6.4.4-200.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.3-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: __poll
As written before, two crashes on first login, this is the first crash corresponding to the previously reported 2nd crash. Perhaps the comparaison gives a hint on what's wrong. Let me know what you need to know more to fix the issue. reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGABRT journald_cursor: s=9cbc3f95db0942fd857094d923fd6e6f;i=49f35f;b=60abe2fca2974a638ace8ed0596c6751;m=7899e7ce;t=60149d3c62356;x=ae0c3cf3405d4db6 executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-21867.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 21867 kernel: 6.4.4-200.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.3-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: __poll
As there was a comment on monitor manager, I have a dual screen setup (one internal to the laptop, P1 Gen4, and one external over USB-C).
Only booting, this time only crashed once. The problem disappeared for a little while after I had reset my laptop (Lenovo, not sure it's related though), but now it's back. reporter: libreport-2.17.11 type: CCpp reason: gnome-shell killed by SIGABRT journald_cursor: s=9cbc3f95db0942fd857094d923fd6e6f;i=504706;b=803ed2c2564d4b56bfee9545b621e4ea;m=be7c7e7;t=601d629e667a1;x=e4013cb0aa0869a0 executable: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cmdline: /usr/bin/gnome-shell cgroup: 0::/user.slice/user-21867.slice/user/session.slice/org.gnome.Shell rootdir: / uid: 21867 kernel: 6.4.6-200.fc38.x86_64 package: gnome-shell-44.3-1.fc38 runlevel: N 5 backtrace_rating: 4 crash_function: __poll comment: Only booting, this time only crashed once.
