Description David Auer 2023-05-11 23:38:11 UTC
It is of course no drop in replacement but I think users should be made aware that curlftpfs has been abandoned for a really long time. `rclone` is a modern alternative with the capability to mount ftp shares, and much more. Unfortunately it is not easy to find this alternative if you don't know what you are looking for.

Not sure whether there is a good way to communicate such information through the package but at least I wanted to create this bug in case someone is looking here in bugzilla ;)

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Fedora Release Engineering 2023-08-16 08:09:26 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 39 development cycle.
Changing version to 39.

Comment 2 Aoife Moloney 2024-11-08 10:52:19 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 39 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 39 on 2024-11-26.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '39'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 39 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 3 David Auer 2024-11-08 12:44:39 UTC
Still available as package in Fedora 41, I'd argue that this software should be removed. Sourcefourge lists the last update on 2013-05-02 which is far too old to assume that this is still safe to use.

Comment 4 Fedora Admin user for bugzilla script actions 2025-07-11 00:58:34 UTC
This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.

Comment 5 David Auer 2025-07-11 18:05:59 UTC
Resetting version to rawhide.
