Description Manjunatha 2023-05-14 08:54:07 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request
Support for topologyConstrainedPools with external ceph clusters

2. Who is the customer behind the request?

Account: Ministry of Defense

3. What is the nature and description of the request
Support for topologyConstrainedPools with external ceph clusters

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Customer is having an OCP cluster that is connected to an external ceph cluster with ODF. Right now, the configuration only allows the storage-class to be connected to one pool on the ceph cluster. They require a mechanism that will allow the SC to connect to multiple pools on the external ceph cluster. When a pvc is created on the cluster, the SC will read the topology info and will allocate the datavolume on the ceph side to the appropriate pool, as specified by the cluster admin.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
While it is true that the OCP cluster is the one that is aware of the topology, as things stand now, this topology is not reflected in the ceph since it seems that this configuration interface has yet to be implemented in ODF.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
Not applicable

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2160418

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?
Not applicable

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
Not applicable

10. List any affected packages or components.
Not applicable

11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Not applicable
