+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #2107138 +++ This needs to be updated to reflect more current and tested Ceph versions like 5.1.2 Reported by: gsternag https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_openshift_data_foundation/4.10/html/deploying_openshift_data_foundation_in_external_mode/deploy-openshift-data-foundation-using-red-hat-ceph-storage#annotations:7289e12b-25de-49b3-b624-68ea8ba90023 --- Additional comment from RHEL Program Management on 2022-07-14 12:33:54 UTC --- This bug having no release flag set previously, is now set with release flag 'odf‑4.11.0' to '?', and so is being proposed to be fixed at the ODF 4.11.0 release. Note that the 3 Acks (pm_ack, devel_ack, qa_ack), if any previously set while release flag was missing, have now been reset since the Acks are to be set against a release flag. --- Additional comment from Anjana Suparna Sriram on 2022-07-14 13:22:20 UTC --- @vavuthu Could you please review this bug and suggest recommendations. --- Additional comment from khartsoe on 2022-08-03 11:18:44 UTC --- Anjana...the statement ("4.2z1" ) that needs to be updated is: "Red Hat Ceph Storage version 4.2z1 or later is required for the external cluster. For more information, see this knowledge base article on Red Hat Ceph Storage releases and corresponding Ceph package versions." And this statement needs to be determined if still relevant: "If you have updated the Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster from a version lower than 4.1.1 to the latest release and is not a freshly deployed cluster, you must manually set the application type for CephFS pool on the Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster to enable CephFS PVC creation in external mode." --- Additional comment from Red Hat Bugzilla on 2022-12-31 19:55:07 UTC --- remove performed by PnT Account Manager <pnt-expunge> --- Additional comment from Red Hat Bugzilla on 2023-01-01 05:57:32 UTC --- remove performed by PnT Account Manager <pnt-expunge> --- Additional comment from Red Hat Bugzilla on 2023-01-01 08:29:46 UTC --- Account disabled by LDAP Audit --- Additional comment from Red Hat Bugzilla on 2023-01-01 08:45:50 UTC --- Account disabled by LDAP Audit --- Additional comment from Disha Walvekar on 2023-05-15 11:24:20 UTC --- @bkunal - can you please confirm if the following sentences from section 2.2 - are still relevant? "Red Hat Ceph Storage version 4.2z1 or later is required for the external cluster. For more information, see this knowledge base article on Red Hat Ceph Storage releases and corresponding Ceph package versions." --> does this sentence need to be updated to the latest supported version of Ceph? "If you have updated the Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster from a version lower than 4.1.1 to the latest release and is not a freshly deployed cluster, you must manually set the application type for CephFS pool on the Red Hat Ceph Storage cluster to enable CephFS PVC creation in external mode." Thank you! --- Additional comment from Olive Lakra on 2023-05-15 11:40:55 UTC --- --- Additional comment from Olive Lakra on 2023-05-15 11:42:05 UTC --- We recently updated the 4.12 docs. Refer to screenshot attached and the doc url. We may need to update the previous version docs as well. Not sure which ones though. https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_openshift_data_foundation/4.12/html/deploying_openshift_data_foundation_in_external_mode/deploy-openshift-data-foundation-using-red-hat-ceph-storage --- Additional comment from Disha Walvekar on 2023-05-18 13:36:42 UTC --- Hi @bkunal - could you review the above comments? Can you please check and let me know if we need to backport the information related to Ceph as done in 4.12? --- Additional comment from Bipin Kunal on 2023-05-19 09:57:35 UTC --- I agree with Olive, The change done in the 4.12 guide needs to be backported to older versions as well. The intention is to guide them to the odfsi lab where we maintain the supported versions. This is what was added in the pre-req session after removing the existing points around the Ceph version : ============================================= To check the supportability and interoperability of Red Hat Ceph Storage (RHCS) with Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation in external mode, go to the lab Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation Supportability and Interoperability Checker. Select Service Type as ODF as Self-Managed Service. Select appropriate Version from the drop down. On Versions tab, click Supported RHCS Compatibility tab. ============================================= --- Additional comment from Bipin Kunal on 2023-05-19 09:59:00 UTC --- IIRC we made this change in other docs as well but could not recall which doc. Maybe planning doc. Please do check other docs where similar information is available, we need to fix it at all places. --- Additional comment from Disha Walvekar on 2023-05-22 06:19:11 UTC --- Thank you, Bipin and Olive for the information. I will work on this.
