Description Lark Gordon 2023-07-04 19:55:58 UTC
Document URL:
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/9/html/upgrading_from_rhel_8_to_rhel_9/assembly_preparing-for-the-upgrade_upgrading-from-rhel-8-to-rhel-9#preparing-a-rhel-8-system-for-the-upgrade_upgrading-from-rhel-8-to-rhel-9

Section Number and Name:
3.1. Preparing a RHEL 8 system for the upgrade

Describe the issue:
Step 12 states "The latest release of the leapp-upgrade-el7toel8 package contains all required data files. If you have replaced these data files with older versions, remove all JSON files in the /etc/leapp/files directory and reinstall the leapp-upgrade-el7toel8 package to ensure your data files are up-to-date."

This is the documentation for the upgrade from RHEL 8 to RHEL 9, so the package name should be "leapp-upgrade-el8toel9"

Suggestions for improvement:
Switch the package name to leapp-upgrade-el8toel9

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I reviewed the Upgrading from RHEL 8 to RHEL 9 guide and fixed both this issue and another issue related to copying text from the Upgrading from RHEL 7 to 8 guide. The guide has been republished.
