Description Eric Nothen 2023-07-13 17:24:28 UTC
Description of problem:

RHOSP 17.x documents [0] [1] still list the nova hooks for pre and post configuration. I understand that these hooks are no longer available in RHOSP 17 given that there is no Nova in the undercloud, and that they should be replaced with other procedures based on Ansible.

Chapter 5.1 in the 17.x documentation should still be valid, these ExtraConfig resources will be transformed to ansible tasks, just as it is in 16.x with config-download. Somebody from DFG:DF can confirm this.

What has been replaced is the first boot NodeUserData resources[1]. We're working on documentation on how to do the equivalent with cloud-config in the provision yaml format

Yeah, confirming that we still use ExtraConfig as described. It can still be leveraged to write out hieradata.
