Perform the following steps on the new Directory Server 12 host: a. Install Directory Server 12 Describe the issue: there has been several situations with a RHDS-12 instance created for a migration project from either RHDS-10 or 11, and the newer RHDS-12 instance had a dse.ldif copied from the legacy environment, which is a source of problems and is not supported a supported configuration. Suggestions for improvement: add a note each there is a recommendation to Install Directory Server 12 to indicate the resulting dse.ldif from the newer RHDS-12 instance should NOT be replaced by the legacy dse.ldif, but kept because they are different. Add custom configurations using the dsconf command line utility or the Web UI. Additional information: ( edited notes from Mark R.: ) Do not copy the dse.ldif from an older RHDS version to a new RHDS-12 instance. The dse.ldif layout changed between RHDS version 10 and 12. That means some necessary plugins and configurations are missing in the new RHDS-12 instance, some system indexes could be removed. The effects of this are unknown, and it could cause problems in the future.
