The session just froze - I don't know why - shortly after I started to run /usr/bin/remote-viewer. The mouse still moved. I opened CTRL-ALT-F1 and logged in there to see if it would correct, but the fault just transferred. I then went to another console and ran "killall -3 gnome-shell". This usually clears the session. It seemed to only clear the F1 session.
