Scanning directly from gimp does not work for me in the version installed by the upgrade to fc41, as there is no longer a "scan" entry in the gimp file --> create menu. Scanning per se to a file using xsane works, it is only the previously available integration and direct import of the scanned bitmap data into gimp that is missing. Note: I had to manually remove the gimp-jxl-plugin package in order to upgrade to fc41, but I fail to see how it could be responsible for xsane integration with gimp. dnf list "*gimp*" gives: gimp.x86_64 2:2.99.19^20241027git2db868ab50-1.fc41 updates gimp-libs.x86_64 2:2.99.19^20241027git2db868ab50-1.fc41 updates xsane-gimp.x86_64 0.999-73.fc41 fedora Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Gimp 2. Open the "file" menu 3. Select the "create" entry Actual Results: Just two options are being offered for image creation: "from clipboard" or "screenshot" Expected Results: Three (or more) options containing an "xsane" option to acquire an image from a scanning device
Hi Arne, unfortunately xsane does not have support for GIMP 3, which (I know the version is misleading, but that's the version number from upstream) is already present as gimp 2.99^20241027git2db868ab50 in F41, so xsane plugin for gimp got disabled until upstream migrates the plugin to GIMP 3. I've filed an upstream issue about this https://gitlab.com/sane-project/frontend/xsane/-/issues/66 - I'm sorry for inconvenience.
