Tried using new_id to add 8086:2850 to ata_piix - it didn't cause it to see the CD.
Is there anything I can provde to help in getting this working?

The kernel from updates testing 2.6.22.1-20.fc7 and the 2.6.22.1-27.fc7 I found in koji solved this issue for me.
