Description LisaWu 2007-07-10 23:09:49 EDT
Description of problem:
After install RHEL4.5 64bit, we found no monitor Information is detected by
kudzu, however monitor information can be detected by kudzu on RHEL4.5 32BIT

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kudzu for RHEL4.5 64BIT

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.connect a CRT monitor with EDID information to system
2.Install RHEL4.5
3.run ddcprobe(a command which will call kudzu to detect monitor information),
no monitor information is detected

Actual results:
no monitor information was detected

Expected results:
kudzu should get the monitor EDID information

Additional Information,
we tested RHEL4.5 32BIT on the same system, in this case, monitor EDID is read
out by kudzu.
Comment 1 Bill Nottingham 2007-07-10 23:23:19 EDT
vm86 doesn't work on x86_64.
Comment 2 LisaWu 2007-07-10 23:27:55 EDT
you mean this is a known issue that won't be fixed?
Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2007-07-10 23:58:40 EDT
Correct. There was an effort at one point to work on using a x86 emulator for
this code, but it never reached the required stability level to use in RHEL.
