Description Jay Turner 1999-05-10 17:25:05 UTC
After the upgrade, the printer no longer would print.

Comment 1 Jay Turner 1999-05-10 17:27:59 UTC
In previous versions of the kernel, the parallel ports were numbered
as follows: lp0 -> (0x378), lp1 -> (0x278?) but with the latest
kernel, the parallel ports are numbered as follows: lp0 = first port
probed, lp1 = second port probed, etc. For this reason a user should
look through the output from dmesg and edit /etc/printcap so that each
lp is now pointing to its new device name; once this edit is complete,
the user should restart lpd
