Description Wayne Stambaugh 2001-03-15 19:10:19 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.76 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.17-14 i686)

After booting from the Wolverine installation disk 1, the kernel
initialization hangs at "Checking if this processor honours the WP bit even
in the supervisor mode...". This completely locks the system requiring a
hard reset or power cycle.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot from CDROM.
2. Run installer in text mode, graphical installer dosen't give any
feedback just a blank screen.
3.

Actual Results: System hang on installation boot.

Expected Results: Install using graphical installer.

Processor: Cyrix 6X86 150MHz
Motherboard: ASUS P/I-P55T2P4
RAM: 64MB
Video: Matrox Mystique w/ 2M SDRAM

This is a known bug which slipped in with a bug to fix a SMP race.
Later kernels have this fixed; rawhide has such kernels, I'm not
sure if it has new install .iso's
