mysql-test-5.0.27-1.fc6.i386.rpm
perl-DBI-1.52-1.fc6.i386.rpm
and able to install the rpm's

Is the mysql-server RPM actually installed according to rpm -qa | grep mysql?
If not, what happens exactly when you try to install it?
