Description Gerald Cox 2007-11-09 12:32:32 EST
Description of problem:
Under F7 was able to extract the following firmware via bcm43xx-fwcutter:

  MD5 : feaf7ec9f38a37945b6fb169617ec859
  microcodes : 4 5 11 13
  pcms : 4 5

When using b43-fwcutter, receive the following message:
Sorry, the input file is either wrong or not supported by b43-fwcutter.

How reproducible:
Issue command:
b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware bcmwl564.sys

Steps to Reproduce:
1. b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware bcmwl564.sys
2.
3.

Actual results:
Sorry, the input file is either wrong or not supported by b43-fwcutter.
This file has an unknown MD5sum feaf7ec9f38a37945b6fb169617ec859.

Expected results:
Extraction of files.

Additional info:
I can still extract using bcm43xx-fwcutter which is included with F8, but the
drivers or something is messed up and the files no longer work under F8, they
worked under F7.

The b43 driver team has limited firmware support to just a few known sources
of good firmware.

Please use b43-fwcutter with the appropriate firmware image for the driver you
are using.
