BTW, reverting to gdm-2.20.1-5.fc8 works around this for me.
Reported on fedora-test that this works with 'i810' driver. Fails for me with 'intel' selected in xorg.conf.
after latest updates it works also with intel driver, but: logins screen is ugly (only a small user selection windows on a black screen restart/stop buttons are not working no way to switch between open applications....
GDM is going through a big rewrite right now. See: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2007-October/msg01766.html I expect things to look more complete further along in the development cycle.
