Description mike simpson 2007-12-02 06:00:02 EST
Dell inspiron 2100 and toshiba s3000-x11 both have lost battery info and cpu
therm monitoring with 2.6.23 (all versions in fedora 7 and 8 and testing)
leading to severe overheating and failure to engage "laptop mode" when on battery

These are working with 2.6.22 and have been fixed with 2.6.24-0.57.rc3.git4

dmesg and lspci --vv for both in the atachments following

I see this problem as well. kernel- works, with
kernel- there is no proc/acpi/battery/BAT0. Is any additional
information needed?
Comment 6 Ron Yorston 2007-12-30 17:38:20 EST
Just to confuse matters, is the first FC8 kernel that works
properly for me. This is on a Dell Latitude L400 (which is essentially the same
as the Inspiron 2100).

Still broken in A diff of dmesg output between the latest
working kernel and the latest kernel shows this:

Looks like this works again after upgrading to kernel-
Comment 9 Kasper Dupont 2008-04-06 11:46:49 EDT
Looks like this bug was reintroduced in I tested battery
information on all fc8 kernel versions: works works does not work does not work does not work works works works does not work does not work
Comment 10 Kasper Dupont 2008-04-30 16:07:45 EDT
The bug is still present in kernel-
Comment 11 Kasper Dupont 2008-06-01 17:41:43 EDT
This bug is still present in!

I wanted to try to track this down in the source, when this bug was
reintroduced. But I cannot find the following source rpm packages anywhere:
Comment 12 Kasper Dupont 2008-06-08 16:47:10 EDT
It appears to be working again in Now we just need this bug not
to be reintroduced again a few releases down the way.
