Description Adam Goode 2008-02-18 15:17:30 EST
Description of problem:
When using Coda filesystem, updatedb walks across the entire /coda hierarchy
(which is global like /afs).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
mlocate-0.18-1

How reproducible:
Everytime.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. updatedb

Actual results:
Lots of network activity.

Expected results:
Not so much network activity.

Additional info:
Coda is a network filesystem that is based off an old version of AFS. It is
currently maintained, and exists as a filesystem in mainline kernel. The module
is shipped with the Fedora kernel.
Comment 1 Adam Goode 2008-02-18 15:18:04 EST
PRUNEPATHS should add "/coda" and PRUNEFS should add "coda".
Comment 2 Miloslav Trmač 2008-02-18 17:43:43 EST
Thanks for your report.

coda is a nodev file system, and is therefore excluded automatically by the
daily script. If you really need to update the locate database immediately, you
can run (/etc/cron.daily/mlocate.cron) instead of (updatedb) to take advantage
of the automatic exclusion.
