Description of problem:
less segfaults when searching for the expression ``/<'' in a document.
(Yes, I know it's not a valid regexp but is sholdnt segfault anyway)

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. less <some_file>
2. Type: /\< Enter
	

Actual Results:  Segmentation fault (core dumped)
