Description of problem: Wake on LAN was working on my workstation (used to run backup jobs) on F8 for the last couple of months. It stopped working recently. It was last working with 2.6.24.3-50.fc8 (i686) according to my last logs. An improper shutdown from f9 Beta may have triggered the problem or the upgrade to the latest F8 kernel. Shutdown from WOL works Power supply disconnected Yes 2.6.24.3-50.fc8 No 2.6.24.4-64.fc8 No Fedora 9 kernel Yes Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.6.24.4-64.fc8 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Shutdown from F8 2. Send Wake on LAN "magic" packet Actual results: Machine does not power on. Expected results: Machine to power on. Additional info: 05:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) LAN Controller (rev 01) Subsystem: Intel Corporation DeskTop Board D945GTP Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 22 Memory at 4d000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] I/O ports at 1080 [size=64] Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2 Kernel driver in use: e100 Kernel modules: e100 I rebuilt the kernel from the src RPM, but with e100.c (sha1 3790acc25249d64c2b37fb3304d044cb1077b146) from Linus's git tree. Wake on LAN now works.
The switch to the 2.6.25 kernel in F8 fixed the problem.
