Description Didier G 2008-04-09 22:06:56 UTC
Description of problem:

Installation of Fedora 9 Beta in graphic mode does not work in a VirtualBox
virtual machine

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

- Fedora 8 host
- Virtual Box 1.5.6

How reproducible:

Every time in graphic mode

Steps to Reproduce:

1/ Create a new virtual machine with following specifications :

guest system : Linux 2.6 kernel
memory : 768 MB
disk : 8 GB dynamic image
video memory : 64 LB
virtual CD Rom drive with file Fedora-9-Beta-i386-DVD.iso mounted in it

2/ Start installation from DVD iso image in graphic mode

Actual results:

Installion fails with a message as where is no disk where to install

Expected results:

Additional info:

When installing in text mode following message is displayed :

<< The partition table on device sda was unreadable. To create new partitions it
must be initialized, causing the loss of ALL DATA on this drive.

This operation will override any previous installation choices about which
drives to ignore.

Would you like to initialize this drive, erasing ALL DATA ? >>

If I accept to initialize the device, installation works fine.

Comment 1 Didier G 2008-04-09 22:08:50 UTC
If I try to initialize the partition table with GParted before to start Fedora 9
installation, installation in graphic mode fails anyway with same message about
disk.

Comment 2 Didier G 2008-04-18 07:11:18 UTC
This problem is fixed in Fedora 9 Preview
