Description of problem:

Noticing the following in the logs when vt switching (not using modeset)

[drm:i915_mem_init_heap] *ERROR* heap already initialized?
[drm:i915_dma_resume] *ERROR* can not ioremap virtual address for ring buffer

Possibly not surprisingly, attempting to run glxgears then yields:
