I can reproduce this reliably by right-clicking on the System Monitor applet and
choosing "Open System Monitor". The mouse, keyboard, and display freeze either
instantly or after interacting with the System Monitor for a few minutes. This
is with gnome-system-monitor-2.22.0-2.fc9.i386 on
kernel-2.6.25-0.218.rc8.git7.fc9.i386.

2.22.1 seems to fix this for me.
