Description of problem: I have a freshly burned DVD of Fedora 9 for x86_64. I have successfully installed Fedora 9 using that DVD onto my MacBook Pro. When I attempt to install on my MacPro, the installation hangs at the media check. The keyboard input works before that (I can select what kind of install I want, and I can set boot options, such as nomediacheck=1), but when the bootstrap launches, it invariably offers me a blue screen with two large red boxes, one to accept a media check and one to skip a media check. Neither the keyboard that came with the MacPro nor a much older Mac keyboard (plugged into a variety of USB ports) are able to signal the response. Moreover, the trackball (also attached to a USB port) is also ignored. Without being able to respond to or to skip the media check, the installation stalls. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 9. How reproducible: Try booting a late-model 8-core Mac Pro with 16GB of RAM. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install bootcamp and split the primary 500GB hard disk into two equal partitions 2. Install rEFIt version 0.11 (EFI Revision 1.10, Platform x86_64, Firmware: Apple 1.10) 3. Install bootable Fedora 9 DVD 4. Select Linux DVD for booting 5. Select Install or Upgrade existing system 6. Wait until offered the choice to do a media check 7. Type Return (or Enter or TAB or Alt-TAB) and see that nothing happens Actual results: Hang--no visible response from any keyboard input Expected results: Progress in installation Additional info: My 8-core MacPro has 16GB of RAM and is new as of April.

I'm experiencing the same exact problem with Fedora 10 on a Sun Microsystems PC. My keyboard is a no-name USB keyboard.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 9 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 9. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '9'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 9's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 9 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 9 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-07-10. Fedora 9 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
