Description Casey Dahlin 2008-05-28 20:14:02 UTC
I have my fedora box set up to use NIS from a red hat server. When I boot, I
cannot log in as an NIS user. Running yptest hangs on test 2. This is after
everything appears to have started correctly, no error messages.

doing a quick service ypbind restart fixes the issue immediately.

Hi,

If you use NetworkManager, it's good idea to put NETWORKWAIT=yes to
/etc/sysconfig/network (otherwise it may happen, that ypbind starts before
network is ready). Did it help?

Also there is new ypbind-1.20.4-5.fc9 in the Fedora 9 testing repository - with
better timing in init script (but if you use NM, you still need set
NETWORKWAIT=yes).

Sorry. It was awhile before I could reboot.

Yes, things seem to be working ok now.
