I expect this is a known problem we had found too. The fix was complicated, so it won't make snapshot 1 but is planned for snapshot 2.
This bug still exists in snapshot2.
This BZ has no flags set and no acks at all. Code freeze for the final build of 4.7 is in 3 days. So it is not going to make 4.7, and we'll have to add a releae note. Geoff, did you believe this to be a duplicate of another BZ, and if so, which one?
Geoff is back to Intel. John is his replacement. :) This bug is a duplicate of bug 449356. We reproduced this issue on Tylersburg-HEDT platform. GUI installation on Tylersburg-HEDT works on RHEL4.6 and RHEL5.2.
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 449356 ***
GUI installation on Intel SantaRosa, Weybridge and Tylersburg-HEDT works well on RHEL4.7-sp4.
