Description Ken Stacey 2001-06-20 14:30:08 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0)

Description of problem:
Normal boots hang, but linux-up works.
The machine is a Compaq Proliant 1600, twin 400Mhz PII, 1Gb RAM,
Smaryarray2 RAID controller (using single disk).
(everthing flashed to the latest firmwares)

When it prints on screen "Partition Check:" it hangs the machine.
for info the driver version is "Compaq SMART2 driver (v 2.4.2)"

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Switch power on
2.watch it start booting boot
3.watch it hang at partition check time

Actual Results: system hanged.

Expected Results: system to continue and print " ida/id0d0 p1 p2 p3 p4"

Additional info:

Appears to be only when booting SMP kernel.
UP kernel works.

Please try adding "noapic" to the kernel commandline on the lilo prompt?
(or to the "append" line in lilo.conf)
