Same problem here! I think the priority should be changed to high. There is nothing within the Xorg.log nor in messages.... After the Xorg freeze its impossible to change to TTYx and kill Xorg. I am using a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700 graphic-card. There should also be an init script for GDM.

This freezes has occured while using Firefox 3 and/or VMWare Server. Please let me know what additional infos you need to fix this really annoying issue.

Comment 3 Matěj Cepl 2008-09-09 21:53:13 UTC
Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

A word of warning first -- we are sorry that we cannot help you any problems while using closed-source drivers (especially nvidia and flgrx). If you are not able to reproduce the issue using only open source software, please, go to the other support options provided by the binary-only driver manufactures.

If you are able to reproduce the issue using only open source drivers (and you are sure that all debris from binary-only drivers is cleared from your system -- https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Xorg/3rd_Party_Video_Drivers), please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

Could you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf whatsoever and let X11 autodetect your display and video card? Attach to this bug /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt as well, please.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.
