Description James Laska 2008-09-04 13:34:05 UTC
Description of problem:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot into install for http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/mash/rawhide-20080904/development/i386/os/

Actual results:
After package installation completes, the install tracebacks. The traceback dialog lists two options:

 1) Local disk
 2) Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.redhat.com)

When I select option#1 (local disk), the screen shows a disabled multi-select box.

Expected results:
Is saving to local disk useful here? Is this intended only for livemedia installs? I wonder if the "Local disk" option should only be present in a live media install environment?

Additional info:

 * I"m unable to ctrl-f1 to get into a shell for some reason ... trying more installs

If you had a floppy or USB drive attached, then you could use the "save to local disk" option. It makes sense for that case and for live installs as well.

Did you not get the option to save via scp as well?

Ah thanks for the clarification. Would you be open for some brief text label to inform the user what to do on that screen? Or perhaps make it clear that they need to insert a USB key or USB floppy?

Not sure ... perhaps something like:

  "No local storage devices found"

Just thinking outloud, perhaps this doesn't make sense. I can try this again with a USB key attached to see how it should look?

No option was presented for scp :(

Save Trackback to local disk (USB key)

When I add a USB key ... I then see an entry under the local disk selection

Save trackback choices now includes SCP

Also once a USB key is attached, I can see "Remote Server (scp)" as a valid choice.

Remote Server (scp) screen showing wrong text box labels

When I do select "Remote Server (scp)" the dialog seems to show the wrong labels.

It asks for a "Bug Description" instead of a remote server and filename.

Want this in another bz?

Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.redhat.com) showing scp labels

If I then select "Bugzilla (http://bugzilla.redhat.com)" it shows the labels I expected to see under "Remote Server (scp)"

Comment 8 Andy Lindeberg 2008-09-04 19:35:42 UTC
Might it make more sense for "local disk" to be relabeled as "local storage device"? The current label implies a hard drive, whereas "storage device" is more clearly usb/floppy/etc.

All these concerns should be fixed up in the next build of anaconda. Thanks for the tips.

Comment 10 James Laska 2008-09-08 15:36:15 UTC
Confirmed fixed in anaconda 11.4.1.32
