Description of problem: After a "yum update", the Control-SPACE does not work, and a click into SCIM icon in the panel does nothing (used to bring up a list of input methods: Anthy and Russian/Translit are enabled). The /var/log/yum.log shows that scim-tables and scim-tables-russian were updated in this update. Preparing testing environment.
The followings are what I have done to get it works: 0a. After your yum update, reboot the system. 0b. Ensure yum groupinstall chinese-support is done. 1. yum install im-chooser. 2. Alt-F2 > gnome-terminal > im-chooser. 3. Enable SCIM > logout. 4. Reboot the system. 5. Login to Gnome and the SCIM should be working. How about if fresh installation of latest (most recent bootable) rawhide?
Could you try: -`yum install im-chooser` - Alt-F2 - gnome-terminal - im-chooser - Enable SCIM - relogin if that works? BTW, which locale are you using?
Please also kindly provide `imsettings-info` output, thanks a lot.

This problem was resolved without an update to SCIM. It was a problem in GNOME. Many applications behave in a weird way, apparently.
