Description Jose Pedro Oliveira 2008-09-28 14:49:12 UTC
Description of problem:
Version 1.4.13 was released a couple of days ago.

Actual results:
Rawhide currently has nagios-plugins version 1.4.12 (nagios-plugins-1.4.12-3.fc10)

Expected results:
To have version 1.4.13 available in rawhide (and in EPEL)

Additional info:

* Nagios Plugins 1.4.13 released!
  http://nagiosplugins.org/node/95

  The main changes to this release are:

  Fix Debian bug #460097: check_http --max-age broken (Hilko Bengen)
  Optimised pst3 for systems with large number of processes (Duncan Ferguson)
  Updated Nagios::Plugin to 0.27
  Fix Debian bug #479013: check_dig's -l is mandatory now (sf.net #1986306)
  check_dig now returns CRITICAL instead of WARNING when no answer section is found
  check_procs now captures stderr in external command and adds to plugin output
  check_snmp now only prints perfdata for non numeric values (#1867716)
  check_icmp now supports packet size modification
  check_http -e now accepts a comma-delimited list of expected status codes (Sven Nierlein)
  libtap now included with this distribution for easier testing. Run ./configure with --enable-libtap
  check_ntp_peer/check_ntp_time used to show port in --help but ignored the argument - now implemented
  Fix possible segfault in check_ntp_peer with deliberately invalid packets

Comment 1 Jose Pedro Oliveira 2008-09-29 18:02:14 UTC
Thanks for the update (already available in epel-testing).

According to the comment in the top of the file /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/utils.pm
installed by nagios-plugins-perl-1.4.13-4.el5 rpm

  ----------
  $ head /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/utils.pm
  ----------
  # Utility drawer for Nagios plugins.
  # $Id: utils.pm.in 1751 2007-07-07 11:55:48Z psychotrahe $
  #
  # This will be deprecated soon. Please use Nagios::Plugin from CPAN
  # for new plugins
  ...
  ----------

we should start using the Nagios::Plugin perl module from CPAN. Although this module tarball is included in the nagios-plugins tarball, I think it would be better to package it as a perl standalone module instead of a nagios-plugins subpackage.

Any thoughts?
