Description Felix Schwarz 2008-10-23 11:57:06 EDT
The current RPM for python-imaging does not provide any egg information. Upstream does not use setuptools but it is easily possible to enable the generation of egg information in the RPM. See

Missing egg information may force a user to recompile python-imaging if he needs to run software which uses setuptool's require mechanism and PIL is required.

For the moment I am busy with other issues and this subject has low priority.

If you have a patch that works I will review and take it. :-)
Comment 2 Felix Schwarz 2008-10-28 09:57:05 EDT
Sorry, I'm too stupid obviously. distutils in F9 provides egg info for (PIL.pth) for all python packages already. So PIL in F9 has this information already. I checked it before but obviously my setup was horribly broken back then...

Sorry for the noise. Bug should be closed as INVALID.
