Description Need Real Name 2008-10-28 18:45:53 EDT
Description of problem:

Using rhgb on a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop with nv driver in xorg, the framebuffer background is unitialized garbage when the mode switches to the full native LCD resolution (1920x1200). The login screen components are rendered properly, and then it fades into the proper desktop background. But before the fade, and during the fade sequence, the initial background is "snow" or uninitialized random memory contents.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

not sure (don't have laptop in hand now)... rawhide current via yum updates as of 2008-10-27.

How reproducible:

every boot

Steps to Reproduce:
1. power on laptop and allow a default rhgb boot
2. watch plymouth "progress bar" grow to complete
3. watch X come up with snowy background and gdm login prompt window
Actual results:

background is random garbage, fading to fedora branded background image

Expected results:

background is black or starts with branded image instead of random framebuffer contents
