(In reply to comment #0) > one can go back to working graphics mode on tty7. Don't understand to this end -- are you running two Xorg sessions on one computer via startx on different VTs?
No. startx - VT swtich -> (no output to VGA) - VT switch back to X and VGA working)
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10 development cycle. Changing version to '10'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
I believe I have the same problem. Text mode is fine during boot up, but, once it switches to the GUI I can not display any of the VT's. My monitor gives the error "video mode not supported". Similarly when shutting down the system, I get the same error message from my monitor until the system turns off. From Xorg.0.log I am using X.Org X Server 1.5.3 (Release Date: 5 November 2008) and my graphics card is an (onboard) ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 3200 Graphics rev 0
This was apparently fixed somewhere in between the rawhide ati updates Closing. kernel-2.6.29-0.218.rc7.git2.fc11.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.11.0-6.fc11.x86_64 xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.0-9.fc11.x86_64
