The file/etc/X11/xorg.conf is made by a command "Xorg-configure:0"

Could we get also log from the failed attempt to run with "radeon" driver, please?

Comment 7 Alex 2008-11-23 10:51:46 UTC
In a file xorg.conf has made a line "Driver" radeon "and has restarted a X-server. As a result we have the screen - a photo in a file photo.JPG

I'm experiencing a somewhat similar problem with my 9200 SE based card. It's documented under bug #471421 and seems to be related to using a DVI connector instead of a VGA connector.

Alex, are you using a VGA or DVI connector?

Comment 12 Bug Zapper 2008-11-26 05:31:13 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10 development cycle.
Changing version to '10'.

Same problem here with radeon 3850 : blank screen with radeon driver.
I ve installed radeonhd and i used system-config-display (from command line) to set radeonhd as default driver.
radeohd works but it has many glitches.
Any attempt to bring back radeon driver failed...

Comment 14 Alex 2008-12-01 16:16:43 UTC
to Martin A. Boegelund

I tried to use both VGA and DVI connectors - result bad

to Nikos Charonitakis

I tried to use the driver "radeonhd". Without result - the screen in general black. Probably the X-server cannot start.

P.S.
The problem exists not only in Fedora 10RC1, but also in definitive release Fedora 10

Comment 15 Nikos Charonitakis 2008-12-01 20:24:57 UTC
@alex
Your card i think is not supported by radeonhd.
Also with ctrl-alt-f1 i see a report that "1 2 3 4 5 X server successfully started" or something similar.
So anaconda thinks that xserver is working but screen remains black...

This bug seems to still exist in F11-preview.

Could you please add /var/log/Xorg.0.log, /var/log/dmesg, and /etc/X11/xorg.conf from Rawhide?

Thank you

Comment 18 Martin A. Boegelund 2009-05-07 21:37:50 UTC
I'm unable to produce any logs or config files for you - sorry. I simply can't switch to tty2 (or any tty for that matter) in order to grab logs and config file.
I produced an X.log file over at bug #471421, but that was for preview-10 - can you use that?

Ctrl-alt-F[2-7] doesn't take me to a terminal anymore, so I really don't know how I can fetch the files you request.

Please advice. Thank you.

Martin
