Description Dennis Jacobfeuerborn 2008-12-20 22:35:12 EST
On my system /var/log/messages seems to disappear sometimes. rsyslog is still running and doing a "service rsyslog restart" creates a new logfile.
Comment 1 Tomas Heinrich 2008-12-25 09:08:13 EST
What version of rsyslog are you using?
Have you done any changes to your rsyslog.conf?
When the file disappears, does running logger (or some other way of generating a message) make it appear again or has it any other effect on rsyslog?

Can the reporter please provide additional info requested?

Since I cannot reproduce this problem anymore I'll close this bug.
