Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 480602
httpd initscript: condrestart should call status
Last modified: 2009-01-22 10:14:56 EST
Description of problem:
initscript condrestart does not call status
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
2.2.11-5 (and all previous)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. service httpd start
2. pkill -9 httpd
3. service httpd condrestart
daemon starts though it was dead
daemon was dead, and should not be resurrected just because the pidfile exists
This behaviour is typically old-style RedHat, and many daemon init scripts behave like this. According to
condrestart and try-restart _should_ use the status function (from /etc/sysconfig/functions), and not just rely on the pidfile.
Thanks for the suggestion! Done in 2.2.11-6.
