Description Robert Scheck 2009-02-21 22:10:48 EST
Description of problem:
Please add a whois server for .arpa in /etc/jwhois.conf as the otherwise
queried whois server of ARIN and/or Internic are used which cause absolute unnecessary redirects or even wrong output. According to IANA, there is a
valid whois server: http://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/arpa.html, so let's
use it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Everytime, whois gets redirected.

Actual results:
# whois in-addr.arpa
[Querying whois.internic.net]
[Redirected to whois.iana.org]
[Querying whois.iana.org]

Expected results:
Add the following line in /etc/jwhois.conf after "\\.ar$" and everything goes
fine here:

"\\.arpa$" = "whois.iana.org";

Afterwards the correct and authoritative whois server is directly queried:

# whois in-addr.arpa
[Querying whois.iana.org]

Additional info:
Please try to get this fix upstream - upstream is unluckily always very very
unresponsive to me.
