Description of problem: Cyrus SASL comes with non-standard, awkward-to-fulfill license. GNU SASL comes with standard LGPL/GPL licenses and provides equal feature set. GNU SASL become version 1.0 recently [1]. Please consider consolidating Cyrus SASL users to GNU SASL. 1) http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-gsasl/2009-01/msg00003.html
This package has changed ownership in the Fedora Package Database. Reassigning to the new owner of this component.
So, any comments on this one? Thanks.
Switching the security package is not a choice nor a license picking. Such a task has to be performed carefully and with thorough testing. I'll look at it in F13 devel phase.
The GNU SASL (now in the version 1.2) does not fully substitute the Cyrus SASL. There are still missing some necessary functionality like pam support, support for Unix passwd/shadow and more. If you really rely on that package, pack it into fedora.
