Description Ola Thoresen 2009-03-05 15:52:27 EST
Description of problem:
Totem will not play mss:// URLs, at least from nrk.no
The mozplugin does nothing, and when opening in totem itself, I get an error "Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file."

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
totem-gstreamer-2.25.92-1.fc11.i586
totem-xine-2.25.92-1.fc11.i586
totem-pl-parser-2.25.92-1.fc11.i586
totem-2.25.92-1.fc11.i586
totem-nautilus-2.25.92-1.fc11.i586
totem-mozplugin-2.25.92-1.fc11.i586

gstreamer-python-0.10.14-2.fc11.i586
PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin-0.4.4-4.fc11.i586
gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10.22-2.fc11.i586
gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.10-1.fc11.i386

gstreamer-plugins-farsight-0.12.10-2.fc11.i586
gstreamer-plugins-flumpegdemux-0.10.15-5.fc11.i586

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a webpage with mms:// streams. IE. http://www.nrk.no/nett-tv/indeks/161772/
2. Watch the player not play the movie
3. Right click the movie and select "Open with Movie Player"

Actual results:
Error message from Totem

Expected results:
The movie should play fine

Additional info:
Here is the mms-link for one of the movies.
mms://straumod.nrk.no/disk09/Nytt_pa__nytt/2009-02-27/Nytt_p__nytt_27_02_09_1000_468219_20090227_205500.wmv

Simply changing the "mms://" to "http://" plays the movie without a problem in Totem, so it is NOT a codec issue.

I also tried
gst-launch playbin2 uri=mms://straumod.nrk.no/disk09/Nytt_pa__nytt/2009-02-27/Nytt_p__nytt_27_02_09_1000_468219_20090227_205500.wmv

Btw. the same issue exist in Fedora 10 too. I just reported it from my rawhide-laptop, so I don't have the exact version of gstreamer* and totem* here (but the F10 computer was updated today)

gstreamer-plugins-bad (in which you'll find mmssrc) isn't shipped by Fedora, but by a third-party. File a bug against this repo, or upstream at http://bugzilla.gnome.org
