Description Bryan Leopard 2001-07-23 12:43:23 EDT
SERVER:
PL8000, ROM P41 (2/16/01)
8X700 MHz CPU, 4GB RAM, 3X9.1GB HD, RAID 5

OS:
RedHat Fairfax Beta 1

PROBLEM:
During RH 7.2 B1 Installation, FTP Install displays "Error loading RAM
Disk. Unable to retrieve first Install Image". This causes the install to
fail. Under the same conditions, RedHat 7.1 installed fine from the same
FTP Server.

STEPS:
(1) Boot the system with boot disk after configuring the server with
SmartStart 5.2, RC6
(2) Select FTP Install and follow the directions

Have you seen the same behavior using beta-2? And soon, we'll likely be asking
if beta-3 shows the same behavior....
Comment 2 Brent Fox 2001-08-10 11:14:32 EDT
What OS is running on your FTP server?
Comment 3 Bryan Leopard 2001-08-16 11:44:44 EDT
It doesn't seem to matter what is on the ftp server. We have tried Red Hat
7.1, W2K, and other lesser linux vendors :). These same configurations work
fine when trying to install RH 7.1 though.
Comment 4 Matt Wilson 2001-08-16 11:51:13 EDT
And you've reproduced this with beta3?
Comment 5 Matt Wilson 2001-08-16 11:52:54 EDT
(and soon we'll be asking if you've reproduced this in rc1)
Comment 6 Bryan Leopard 2001-08-16 12:33:07 EDT
yes, this is reproduced on Beta3.
Comment 7 Matt Wilson 2001-08-16 12:36:52 EDT
any abnormal messages on Alt+F3 or Alt+F4?
Comment 8 Brent Fox 2001-08-31 10:25:01 EDT
Bryan, any more info here?
