Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 498932
Primary screen doesn't lock when pointer is in other screen
Last modified: 2010-05-04 05:59:36 EDT
Description of problem:
When the pointer in in the screen of a different machine via synergy, screen saver and screen lock never kick in on the primary computer's screen.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure 2 computers with synergy
2. Using the mouse on the primary (synergys) computer, move the pointer to the screen of the secondary (synergyc) computer.
Screen saver eventually starts on secondary screen, but never on primary screen.
Screen saver starts on both screens.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 11 development cycle.
Changing version to '11'.
More information and reason for this action is here:
I've packaged and imported synergy-plus in Fedora recently. It's a fork of synergy which focused on bug fixes for the current release. Note that you'll need to uninstall synergy first since the binary names conflict. From my limited testing, it's fully compatible with the old synergy.
Could you try it and see if it fixes this issue?
I tested running synergys from synergy-plus on Fedora 11, and synergyc from synergy on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3. This still fails.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.
Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.
Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.
Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.
The process we are following is described here:
This problem seems to have been reported upstream already. Windows users seem to have similar issues, but I think this is the relevant report :
"Support for gnome-screensaver as well as xscreensaver"
Note that it might be worth trying adding "screenSaverSync = false" in the "section: options" part of your synergy.conf file, see :
In any case, this is not something I'll be able to fix myself, I'll be relying on upstream for the fix to appear in a future release of synergy+.
