Description johan 2001-07-27 07:50:17 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 98)

Description of problem:
When unpacking a compressed archive from a SCSI tape tar hangs.

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an archive with command 'tar cvzf /dev/nst0 file1 file2 ...'
2. Rewind tape
3. Unpack archive with command 'tar xvzf /dev/nst0'

Actual Results: Tar will unpack the archive until it reaches the end of
the archive where it will simply stop and just hang. A ^C brings back the
prompt. The very last files of the archive are not unpacked.

Expected Results: That all files are unpacked.

Additional info:

Using tar from the RH5.1 distribution in the RH7.0 installation will
unpack the complete archive without any problems.

Have not checked if this applies only for archives on /dev/nst0 or also
for archives on regular files.
